D60 review

Basics:
The D60 has a 10.2 megapixel sensor, ISO range of 100 to 3200, 3 point auto-focus system, 3D Colour Matrix Metering II, 3fps continuous shooting speed and 2.5 inch LCD screen. New changes from older models are the use of the Nikon EXPEED image processing engine which produces better image quality. The new Airflow Control System brings a more refined dust-reduction system preventing dust from reaching the sensor. Active D-Lighting can now be turned on before taking a shot, and the new Eye Sensor turns off the LCD screen when you look through the viewfinder (helping to save battery power).

Comfort:
Its all-plastic construction makes it very light and the lens and body work beautifully together (less than 500g). The best thing is that the D60 is designed for "normal" hands enabling balance and the deep grip enables you to use a three finger grip with the forefinger for the shutter.

Functions:
Although cheaper than its rivals there is still a lot of functionality (over 16 external controls. The Nikon D60 tends to follow conventional DSLR design with  a shooting mode on the top of the camera. There is the addition of ‘Active D-Lighting’ which enables you to keep  details in shadow  of high-contrast subjects. The Info button has been moved to the rear of the camera. When pressed it displays the camera's main settings on the large rear LCD screen. There is now also the addition of the D60 ‘Eye-Control’ feature which helps to conserve battery power. The way shutter-speed, aperture and manual modes are implemented has been simplified by way of a main command dial on the rear.

Look:
The Nikon D60 has a clean, sophisticated and  professional  design of a DSLR before. Thankfully the menu system of the Nikon D60 is clear and easy to navigate; 5 menu options are used for all functions. Importantly the start-up time of the D60 is very fast (around 1/2 second) so you wont miss out on that ultimate shot.
